Post Viral Infections
What causes so many to suffer after a viral infection.
Post Viral & Bacterial Infections are a deceiving condition.
Science has faced more than a century of cases of patients who never fully recover or develop secondary symptoms after an infection.
The lack of knowledge causes many doctors to be unaware of this strange condition.
The symptoms can also be related to other conditions
as no sign of an active viral infection is visible.
On the following page,
you can find helpful information about the causes of the condition
and the symptoms following it.
What Causes Post Viral/Bacterial infections?
We like to think of a virus or a bacteria as a single smooth-surface cell, but that is hardly the case. Most bacteria and viruses carry differently shaped proteins on their surfaces that look under the microscope as spikes or loosened threads.
Here starts the problem.
In approximately 7% of cases after recovery from the infection, some of those same proteins continue to circulate in the bloodstream.
Fibrinogen and Microclots
As the protein leftovers travel through the bloodstream, they get tangled in an important protein called fibrinogen.
Fibrinogen is a thread-shaped protein. In case of injury, fibrinogen binds the blood platelets together, keeping them still and steady.
Once a related infection protein gets caught in a fibrinogen net, it weakens the protein, causing it to break. Once the fibrinogen breaks, it starts to float in the bloodstream, creating microclots. These tiny microscopic particles are the main cause of the symptoms post-infection patients experience.
Post Viral/Bacterial Symptoms
Shortness of Breath/ Long Haul
When microclots reach the lungs, fluids might start accumulating causing pulmonary edema and leading to shortness of breath with every exertion. For some patients, the condition is so severe they are bedbound for almost 23 hours a day.

Heart Palpitations
Heart palpitations occur when the heart pulse becomes strong or irregular. They are usually associated with low blood pressure, low potassium levels, stress, excitement, and anxiety.
Our clinical experience shows that patients with post-viral or bacterial infection also tend to develop heart palpitations.
Brain Fog
Many patients report difficulties they never experienced before in actions requiring concentration like reading or watching TV. Children and students report struggling to do their homework. Science has yet to find the answer to how microclots cause that symptom.
Extreme Fatigue
Patients report a constant need to sleep. We are not yet sure how microclots cause extreme fatigue but different studies report the fatigue symptoms as well.
Depression & Anxiety
Unfortunately, mental health is also damaged by post-viral and bacterial infections. Losing life quality and not being treated correctly can cause patients depression and anxiety.
What should you do when experiencing
one or more of the symptoms?
We offer you to consult your doctor and ask him or her about post infections syndrome and the treatments available.
